Metal-plastic hybrid parts

Diehl Metal Applications (DMA) develops and manufactures metal-plastic hybrid parts for a wide range of applications - from compact sensor and actuator components to larger, high-performance components for electrification, control and power systems. Our solutions combine the electrical conductivity and strength of metal with the design freedom and lightweight construction advantages of plastic, thus enabling functional integration, weight reduction and maximum reliability.

Broad product portfolio for diverse applications

Our hybrid parts can be found in sophisticated automotive, electronics and electrical engineering systems - reliable, robust and tailor-made:

Automotive & Mobility Solutions

  • Sensors and actuators (ultrasound, ABS/ESP, transmission control)
  • Overmolded housings for ADAS, safety, thermal management and header systems
  • Control unit and ECU components
  • Pump housings and fluidic modules
  • Cell contacting and connection systems for battery and e-mobility applications
  • Busbars and power components (high-power/busbar)

Electronics & Industry

  • Connectors and lead frames
  • Enclosures and assembly components for electronic and power systems
  • Function-integral modules for control and regulation technology

Technology & production

Our hybrid parts are based on a technologically leading manufacturing concept that covers the entire process chain - from engineering and tooling to production, assembly and quality assurance.

High-precision insert molding technology

Using state-of-the-art insert molding technology, we manufacture hybrid parts with overmolded metal contacts and highly integrated functional areas. The technology is suitable for small sensor and actuator components as well as for larger hybrid structures in high-current and electrification applications.

Flexible manufacturing system & one-stop store

Our modular system (MAB concept) ensures maximum flexibility - from material selection to shape and degree of automation through to series production.
All production steps are integrated: Feeding, overmoulding, inline testing, cleaning, laser marking and packaging. This allows our customers to benefit from efficient processes, high process reliability and competitive part costs.

Advantages of our hybrid solutions

Metal-plastic hybrid parts combine the advantages of both materials and open up completely new possibilities in component development. The intelligent combination of metal and plastic enables high functional integration, weight reduction and compact designs.

These hybrid solutions are versatile and cover a wide range of applications - from sensors and actuators to power electronics. Production is flexibly scalable so that prototypes can be produced just as efficiently as medium and large series.

In addition, integrated quality and process safety measures ensure that every component meets the highest standards. Metal-plastic hybrid parts therefore offer the perfect combination of functionality, lightweight construction and reliability - ideal for demanding applications in modern technology.
