Loitering Munition | SkyStriker

SkyStriker (loitering munition) can locate, detect and precisely strike targets either autonomously or under manual control. With a range of over 200 km, it can be equipped with either a 5 kg or a 10 kg warhead. SkyStriker is combat-proven and can be launched from a catapult, from a container, from the (Euro-)PULS multiple launch rocket system, or it can be air-launched – making it equally suitable for use by the Army, Navy and Air Force.

SkyStriker is a combat-proven, autonomous, electrically powered loitering munition of the latest generation. Developed by Elbit Systems, it is designed for tactical precision effects at long ranges (over 200 km). The system enables beyond-line-of-sight engagement while ensuring precise target identification and target tracking in accordance with the operator's commands.

The operational and tactical relevance of loitering munition systems has increased noticeably in recent conflicts, as they have proven highly effective, particularly against high-value, hardened and armored targets. SkyStriker is in service with seven international users and has a solid record of operational deployment. Integration is based on established platforms, enabling short-notice operational availability.

Diehl Defence holds an exclusive cooperation agreement with Elbit Systems for SkyStriker in Germany. This cooperation enables comprehensive technology and production transfer. The concluded Teaming Agreement provides the foundation for establishing a production line in Germany in order to stabilize supply chains and safeguard industrial and technological independence. In addition, Diehl Defence supports qualification, logistical integration and fielding of the system with the German and European armed forces.

Technical Specifications

Range

Up to 100 km line of sight (LOS), and over 200 km* thanks to control handover capability.

The NLOS range is classified and can be presented to the customer directly.

Endurance

SkyStriker B3 (catapult version): Up to 140 min (5 kg warhead configuration) or up to 105 min (10 kg warhead configuration).

SkyStriker B4 (canister version): Up to 120 min (5 kg warhead configuration) or up to 70 min (10 kg warhead configuration).

Note: Endurance is configuration-dependent and stated under optimal flight conditions. Integrating the recovery option reduces flight time.

Warhead

Modular and field-swappable depending on mission. Including:

  • 10 kg Dual-Purpose High Explosive Anti-Tank (DP-HA) warhead with fragmentation.
  • Penetration of 450 mm RHA / 20 cm brick wall.
  • Additional warhead configurations available upon request.

Operation & Control

SkyStriker B3 (catapult version): Two operators for set-up and launch.

SkyStriker B4 (canister version): A single operator for set-up and launch.

System control: One operator can control up to four SkyStrikers simultaneously. Direct control is exercised one at a time, with the ability to switch at any point for flexible mission oversight.

Resilience & Integration

GPS immunity: Highly robust through features such as geo-logging and adaptive antenna technology.

C2 interoperability: Integration into the customer's C2 network is possible (integration terms subject to detailed agreement).

Mission Control (Flight Termination System)

Assigning a different mission/flight path, or executing an abort with recovery option (B3 version only, provided the recovery option is fitted).

Area of operation

SkyStriker is designed to engage high-value, hardened and armored targets. It is especially effective against moving, concealed or time-sensitive targets – delivering tactical precision effects at long ranges, beyond the line of sight.

For the German Armed Forces (Bundeswehr), the system closes a critical gap in precision fires: it boosts combat power while keeping the own forces safe.

A key area of application are the German units tasked with credible deterrence and the defense of NATO's eastern flank. There, loitering munition represent an essential capability module in building a modern reconnaissance-and-strike complex.
