Diehl Defence, a leading supplier of guided missiles, ground-based air defence systems, ammunition as well as further defence products, has opened a new missile integration center at its Nonnweiler location in Saarland. This marks the completion of another major building project as part of the ongoing expansion measures at all of the company's locations.

Diehl Defence CFO Thomas Bodenmüller took over the production building in the presence of the Minister President of Saarland, Anke Rehlinger, at a ceremony following the completion of the construction work. The new building will primarily serve to expand Diehl Defence's capacity for the integration of guided missiles, initially for the various variants of the IRIS-T family.

The new missile integration center has created 3,400 square meters of new production space. The building is unique in Europe with its rising shape towards the rear and meets the latest legal requirements and specifications for explosives processing companies.

"The industry is investing, expanding capacity and creating jobs. This is good for our Saarland.", said Minister President Anke Rehlinger in her welcoming address.

Minister of Economics Jürgen Barke: "The enormous investments by Diehl Defence in Saarland show that our federal state is an efficient location for high technology. The expansion of the defence and security industry opens up new prospects for growth and employment, particularly in times of structural change. Nonnweiler is developing into an industrial anchor with trans-regional appeal.

"Thomas Bodenmüller, CFO Diehl Defence, said: "The integration building is the first building here in Nonnweiler to be completed during the current growth phase. Construction work on the next three new buildings has already begun. In total, there are more than 20 other construction projects at the location. In addition to further production buildings for other product families, a new logistics building is also planned at our Mariahütte site."

Diehl Defence has been going through a growth phase for several years, which has been reinforced since 2022 by the significant increase in demand, especially from the German customer and other NATO countries. The company is therefore expanding its capacities at all sites in order to contribute to its customers' defence capabilities. The investment sum for this amounts to around 1.5 billion euros company-wide.
