Diehl Defence and FLANQ combine expertise

Diehl Defence and the German defence-tech company FLANQ have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for strategic collaboration in the field of autonomous maritime systems. Through this cooperation, both companies aim to pool their expertise and capabilities to extend maritime defence capabilities to unmanned platforms.

The partnership enables both companies to enter the technological field of autonomous surface and underwater platforms as carriers for sensors and effectors. Together, they will further develop existing systems and prepare them for new maritime mission scenarios. The objective is to establish themselves early on as reliable partners for the German Navy and its international partners, leveraging the synergy between the two German companies and their shared approach to expand and strengthen German resilience.

For this purpose, FLANQ contributes its expertise in the areas of autonomy, mission software, and sensor fusion, as well as the development and integration of modular unmanned maritime platforms. Diehl Defence complements these capabilities with its established portfolio of effectors and its long-standing experience in the development and industrialization of complex defence systems.

For both companies, this cooperation represents a significant step in expanding their maritime product portfolios. The common goal is to realize an initial demonstrator within the current year, thereby creating the basis for further development and procurement projects.
