Further development of maritime defence systems: Diehl Defence advances navalization efforts with BAE Systems

Diehl Defence and BAE Systems are collaborating to develop joint solutions for maritime defence systems for the German market, as well as other international armed forces. Following a recent memorandum of understanding, the companies intend to integrate Diehl Defence’s 127 mm (5-inch) ammunition family into BAE Systems’ Mk 45 naval gun and explore other opportunities to combine expertise on maritime defence systems. BAE Systems is the world's leading supplier of 5-inch (127 mm) naval guns and a global provider of defence, aerospace, and security technologies.

As part of this collaboration, the two companies will explore and advance the specific technical integrations. A key focus here is the BAE Systems Mk 45 Mod 4 for the domestic and international markets. This naval gun is to be combined with Diehl Defence’s high-precision, long-range 127 mm (5-inch) ammunition. In addition, both parties are intensifying their collaboration on the potential integration of Diehl Defence’s 
IRIS-T family of guided missiles into BAE Systems’ portfolio of launching systems.
