Diehl Aviation today reports significant progress in the construction of its new production facility in Craiova, Dolj County, Romania. Since breaking ground in July 2025, the project has advanced rapidly, with structural and civil works completing major milestones on time and in line with the project schedule.

The next major milestone will be the move-in to the facility, marking the beginning of preparations for the production start planned in autumn 2026. This step will enable Diehl Aviation to finalize equipment installation, workflow planning, and internal commissioning to ensure a smooth ramp-up of operations. In parallel, the first employees are already being trained to meet Diehl Aviation’s high standards for processes, quality, and safety, ensuring readiness for operational launch. The officoperationsial opening of the facility is scheduled for Summer 2026.

The Craiova facility is a cornerstone of Diehl Aviation’s strategic expansion of its European manufacturing footprint supporting both the rising global demand in the aviation sector and the ongoing production ramp-up of aircraft manufacturers. Located in Craiova Business Park with direct access to major highways and Craiova International Airport, the site will serve as a hub for the production of aircraft components for commercial passenger aircraft and related systems. By expanding its industrial footprint in Romania, Diehl Aviation is strengthening its ability to support customer ramp-ups with additional capacity, improved supply chain resilience, and greater operational flexibility, while maintaining consistent quality and delivery performance.

At launch, the Craiova site will employ approximately 75 team members, with plans to expand to up to 500 employees as manufacturing activities scale up. Building on a successful partnership with Romanian construction company Global Vision, the project benefits from deep local expertise and regional capabilities – ensuring efficient implementation on schedule.

“We are very pleased with the speed and quality of progress at our Craiova site,” said Jörg Schuler, CEO of Diehl Aviation. “Once we move into the building, we will begin the final preparations for start of production. Training our first employees ahead of time ensures that we meet the highest standards in processes, quality, and safety from day one. The opening of the facility in Summer 2026 will mark an important milestone in strengthening our operational flexibility and our ability to serve customers reliably in a growing market.”

The Craiova site will operate closely with Diehl Aviation’s established facilities in Germany and Hungary, forming an integrated European manufacturing network to strengthen supply reliability.
